PotHole Repair....

HOW TO REPAIR A POTHOLE OR PATCH...

1. Prepare the area

Remove any loose asphalt and debris from the pothole. You can use a wire street broom to clean the area.

2. Cut the pothole
Use chalk to outline the area to cut, and then use a pavement saw to cut along the line. The outline should extend into structurally sound asphalt, at least one foot from the pothole in all directions.

3. Fill the pothole
Use a hot-mix or cold-mix asphalt solution to fill the pothole. For large projects, you can split the mixture into four-inch layers.

4. Compact the material
Use a tamper tool, asphalt roller, or plate compactor to compact the material. You can also drive across the patch to compact it.

5. Check the surface
Use a straight edge to check that the patch surface is level. Repeat the compaction process if needed.
